Without Kevin and Kiefer, NLEX hopes to do what the Celtics did

NLEX will be without its K&K tandem for the foreseeable future
NLEX dropped its first three games in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup before winning two of its next three.
If the Road Warriors are to continue climbing up the standings, however, they will have to do so without Kiefer Ravena who will have to serve an 18-month suspension imposed by FIBA.
And don’t forget that they’re already having to play without Kevin Alas who suffered a torn ACL last March.
That means that NLEX will not have its high octane and highly touted backcourt for the foreseeable future. “Oo nga e. It’s very unfortunate for us kasi nga we’re 2-4 na,” Alas told reporters after their latest win on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
That doesn’t mean, however, that the Road Warriors are just calling it a day – especially as that have been inspired by certain NBA team without its two best players had just fallen one game short of the Finals. “Actually, I’m confident pa rin naman sa mga kasama ko. Sabi ko nga sa kanila, ‘O, para na tayong Celtics nyan,’” Alas shared.
He then continued, “Lagi naming sinasabi ni Kiefer na wala na kami so dapat mag-step up lahat.”
The Boston Celtics lost Gordon Hayward to a season-ending leg injury in the first game of the season and then lost Kyrie Irving to a season-ending knee injury right before the playoffs.
Still, they found themselves in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
That kind of resiliency is what Alas expects from NLEX right now. “I’m happy na (today), nag-step up mga teammates namin. I hope in the long run, mag-step up pa sila lalo kasi it’s a big opportunity for them e,” he said.
