"I knew he was looking down on me today with a couple of my shots. Happy we got the win for him tonight. He's an incredible guy and I'm gonna miss him a lot," Chris Banchero talking about his late best friend, Mike De Rossi.
It's been a tough couple of days for Alaska guard Chris Banchero.
Just last Thursday, Banchero lost his closest friend, Mike De Rossi. According to head coach Alex Compton, his point guard found out about the tragic news after he got off from the plane following a trip abroad.
"I lost my best friend last Thursday. It's been a tough week for me," a teary-eyed Banchero told reporters Saturday after Alaska's win over Globalport in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
"It's been tough man. He was like a brother to me," he added.
Despite dealing with that kind of emotional stress, Banchero was crucial in Alaska's comeback win over Globalport.
He finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and seven assists for the Aces, erasing a 15-point deficit to keep their winning streak going at five games.
"I knew he was looking down on me today with a couple of my shots," Banchero said.
"Happy we got the win for him tonight. He's an incredible guy and I'm gonna miss him a lot," he added.
