"Syempre asar talo na naman yan dahil sa college panalo na ako, PBA, panalo pa rin first game," Jeron Teng on his kuya Jeric.
Five years ago, the whole Jeric Teng vs. Jeron Teng thing captured the attention of Pinoy basketball fans.
In 2013, Jeron got the upperhand as his La Salle Green Archers won the UAAP title over Jeric's Growling Tigers from UST.
Five years later in their first PBA meeting in the 2018 Commissioner's Cup, Jeron is still winning as his Alaska Aces got the better of Jeric's Globalport Batang Pier Saturday at the Big Dome.
"Syempre masaya dahil after what, mga 5 or 6 years naglaban ulit kami. Pero it's a different scenario dahil we're on different teams, different roles pero still, masaya pa rin na naglalaban tsaka one point, nagkabantayan pa kami," Jeric said.
"Wala e, ganoon talaga, babawi na lang kami. I thought he played well for the team, may stretch na maganda yung pinakita niya, rebounds, defense, score, yung free throws lang yung medyo masama pero I thought he helped the team win," Jeric added as he took another L from his younger brother.
Jeric went scoreless for the Batang Pier in about nine minutes of play while Jeron played 22 minutes for the Aces.
The younger Teng got eight points and 10 rebounds.
And in a playful jab at his kuya, Jeron made sure to let Jeric know that he won.
He might let him know for a while, actually.
"Syempre asar talo na naman yan dahil sa college panalo na ako, PBA, panalo pa rin first game," Jeron said.
Sibling rivalry at its finest.
