PBA: TNT outguns NLEX to force tie for first place
TNT improved to 6-1, tied with idle Rain or Shine for the no. 1 spot.

TNT lost a 21-point, first-half lead against NLEX Sunday but still, the KaTropa's early work was more than enough for the win.

The KaTropa beat sister team NLEX in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup at the MOA Arena, 117-106, forcing a tie for first place halfway through the elimination round.

TNT improved to 6-1, tied with idle Rain or Shine for the no. 1 spot.

"We just tried doing a lot of combinations today. Jayson and Terrence playing together, Tony Semerad playing the 4 because we feel that's something we will be needing in the future," head coach Nash Racela said.

"We were very specific and very intentional in playing Joshua minutes at least above 30," he added.

TNT was on fire to start, scoring 45 points in the opening period.

The KaTropa were already up by 21 in the first half before the Road Warriors slowly climbed back.

NLEX even took the lead in the third, 80-79, but TNT regained control almost immediately, responding with a 10-1 run.

Import Joshua Smith, led TNT with 24 points on 90 percent shooting from the field. He also had 13 rebounds and five assists.

Anthony Semerad drilled six three-pointers on his way to 22 points while Terrence Romeo scored 19 points on top of eight assists.

For the Road Warriors, it was Arnett Moultrie that paced the offense with 31 points.

NLEX is now 1-1 without the suspended Kiefer Ravena and 2-5 overall.
