“We still have a chance, we’re 3-5, but we still have three more games to go, we still have a solid shot at it.”
Make it back-to-back games, back-to-back blowout losses for Columbian Dyip following a 129-117 loss to San Miguel, Wednesday evening at the Araneta Coliseum.
If you weren’t following the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup conference, it would be easy to assume that the Dyip are doomed to fall short of making it into the post-season.
But with a 3-5 record and three more matches left, that actually isn’t the case.
Currently at ninth place, the Dyip have a real shot at sneaking into the playoffs, and head coach Ricky Dandan wants his boys to forget about their back-to-back losses and quickly.
“We just have to move on from this quickly, because we need to go back to practice and I need to encourage them and prepare them for Sunday’s game.” Dandan said following the loss.
Columbian’s next assignment will be Phoenix, who are also coming off a double-digit loss to the defending champion Beermen.
For Dandan, the Dyip, who have shown that they can find ways to win, will need to fight the rest of the way, given that a playoff berth isn’t far from reach.
“The mindset is that we continue to fight.” said Dandan. “We still have a chance, we’re 3-5, but we still have three more games to go, we still have a solid shot at it.”
