PBA: Focus is on 3-3, not 20-10-10 for Alex Cabagnot

Alex Cabagnot will not be satisfied with a triple-double coming in his team's third win in a row
Defending champion San Miguel is at .500 for the first time in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
With June Mar Fajardo imposing his will to the tune of a 37-point, 18-rebound performance, the Beermen put the brakes on Columbian, 129-117, on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
It wasn’t just the June Mar Show, though, as Alex Cabagnot also starred with a triple-double of 20 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds.
Without a doubt, it was on the shoulders of those two that the Beermen climbed to an even 3-3 in the standings. “I’m happy for Alex dahil triple-double and June Mar scored 30 plus. That’s something na we will need (more of) come next games,” head coach Leo Austria told reporters post-game.
Asked about his stat sheet-stuffing showing, however, Cabagnot just had this to say: “I just thank (God) for the blessings this happened.”
It was the second career triple-double for the 35-year-old, but his concentration couldn’t be moved away from the fact that even with their third win in a row, the defending champions are still fifth in the standings – and in a three-team logjam at that.
“We’re at .500 right now. We’re nowhere we want to be because we’re still at 3-3,” he shared. “We can’t get too high. We were definitely in the lows. We were 0-3 and we’re now 3-3 so we should just stay level-headed.”
And along with being level-headed, Cabagnot said that there is no doubt this isn’t the best version of San Miguel just yet. “Siyempre naman, we don’t wanna plateau right now and say we have everything figured out. We have some stuff figured out, but now all so that’s where practice comes in,” he said.
He then continued, “Hopefully, by the latter part of the conference, we could pick it up and be in playoffs stride.”
