June Mar Fajardo sure loves playing against the Kia franchise.
In the victory against Columbian Wednesday in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup, Fajardo scored 37 points, 17 in the fourth quarter, as the Beermen won their third straight game.
Fajardo's 37 points is a conference high and is the fourth-most points he's scored in one game for his career.
And according to chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III, three of June Mar's top 5 scoring performances in the PBA came against the Kia franchise. Four of his top 7 are against the same team as well.
But in true Kraken fashion, Fajardo just downplayed his big game, saying he just wanted the Beermen to win.
While it was San Miguel's third straight victory, the defending champions are only at .500 with a 3-3 record after losing their first three games in the elimination round.
"Kailangan lang namin manalo at makabalik sa standings," Fajardo said.
"Buti nanalo kami ngayon. Credit sa mga teammates ko, lahat nag-step up. Ang ganda ng laro ni Alex [Cabagnot], triple-double, then yung import namin, as usual nandoon. Lahat nag-contribute," he added.
Despite picking up steam, Fajardo says that the Beermen could still work on a lot of things moving forward.
Most notably on defense as practically everyone at San Miguel didn't like the fact that they gave up 117 points in just 48 minutes to the Dyip.
"Kailangan lang namin i-improve yung depensa, minsan nagre-relax kami," Fajardo said.
"Pero pag naglaro kami as a team, shineshare namin ang bola, sobrang lakas namin, sobrang ganda ng kalalabasan. Sana ganun pa rin, mag-step up ang lahat. Hindi dapat mag-relax," he added.
