3x3WC: Standhardinger:
"The physicality is not the problem. The problem is the inexperience we have. They had two technical against us. That’s four free throws, four points, that’s two possessions plus the fouls called is two so after 6 they have another two. So we give up like 8, 10 free throws. And they have lucky three’s and then that’s it. Next time we will win." --- Christian Standhardinger after Gilas' loss to Mongolia.

BOCAUE, Bulacan --- Safe to say, Gilas Pilipinas was pretty irate after a loss to to Mongolia in the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup Saturday at the Philippine Arena here.

Gilas was called for two flagrant fouls and the penalty for those fouls were a grand total of four free throws and two extra possessions for the Mongolians.

In a close game that ended with a final score of 21-17, one can argue that those calls ultimately cost Gilas a shot at a perfect Day 1.

Still, Christian Standhardinger blames his team's lack of experience in the 3x3 game more than anything.

"How do I say this.... the physicality is not the problem," Standhardinger said.

"The problem is the inexperience we have. They had two technical against us. That’s four free throws, four points, that’s two possessions plus the fouls called is two so after 6 they have another two. So we give up like 8, 10 free throws. And they have lucky three’s and then that’s it," he added.

After a frustrating end to their Saturday, Standhardinger vows a big Gilas comeback on Monday.

As for the inexperience, he says that the team should play better after getting the first two games under their belts.

"This is just experience. It will come. Don’t worry. There are better teams on Monday so I don’t know but I do think that we will play better," he said.

"Next time we will win," Standhardinger added.
