PBA: White proud of teammates for standing up to SMB
White got tossed for getting two technical fouls but despite his ejection, he knew his teammates would pull through and beat the mighty Beermen.

Malcolm White's night ended early Wednesday after getting ejected with about eight minutes to go in Globalport's game against defending champion San Miguel in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

White got tossed for getting two technical fouls but despite his ejection, he knew his teammates would pull through and beat the mighty Beermen.

The Batang Pier did just that.

"They played hard even though I was thrown out of the game," White sadid.

"I knew my team are going to continue to play hard because we worked hard this week in practice. We were determined to beat San Miguel," he added.

Having a 3-4 record after back-to-back losses prior to facing the Beermen, Globalport needed a win to avoid getting buried in the team standings.

That alone was enough of an inspiration to not fold against the champs.

"Going to this game, we weren't thinking we’re gonna lose," White said.

"We knew we needed this game," he added.

White finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds for Globalport, but his early ejection almost cost them the game altogether.

He plans to maintain his composure better as the Batang Pier prepare for the stretch run in the eliminations.

"They just kept playing, they kept fighting. I believe in them. I was a little bit upset on the calls but it’s basketball. It’s just heat in the moment, you get fired up, you say things, do certain things," he said.

"So I’ve got to do a better job controlling my temper on the court too. I’m proud of my teammates. They played hard to get this win. We needed this win it was a big win for us," White added.
