PBA: Wright will hear it from Johnson after Phoenix loss
Wright and Johnson won an ABL title with the Westports Malaysia Dragons under former Phoenix coach Ariel Vanguardia.

Rain or Shine import Reggie Johnson personally marked Saturday's game against Phoenix for one major reason.

Johnson circled the Commissioner's Cup clash against the Fuel Masters because it would be the first time he's meeting Matthew Wright in the PBA.

Wright and Johnson won an ABL title with the Westports Malaysia Dragons under former Phoenix coach Ariel Vanguardia.

Johnson's Elasto Painters ultimately got the last laugh, erasing a 19-point deficit for a 108-106 win and things got interesting between the two in the game's final play.

Wright got the chance to win everything for Phoenix with a three-point shot. He missed.

Johnson was the one contesting.

"It was special. If Matt hit that game winner in my face, I would't hear the end of it, so I wanted to contest, get a hand up without fouling him," Johnson said.

"It was the perfect scenario, me against him for the game almost," he added.

Johnson and Wright go way back and after a great first meeting in the PBA, the hulking ROS import will make sure to let his former teammate know that he won this round.

"I'm glad it went our way. It's a big time win for me and I have bragging rights now so I'm excited. He's definitely going to know. I'll text him tonight, Facebook, Instagram, everything," Johnson said.

Despite his plan to talk some major trash, Johnson feels for Wright and the rest of the Fuel Masters.

Phoenix is currently outside the playoff picture with a 3-6 mark.

"They're in a rough spot right now and I hate it for him, they're fighting for the playoffs," Johnson said.

"I do want to see him in the playoffs and have some success but not in our expense," he added.
