"The league has got to do something because the referee-ing is horrible. Thatís awful. You canít just swing at somebodyís head like that and Iím the one who gets punished for that. They gotta get their sh*t together," --- Matthew Wright.
Despite getting 24 points and the W Wednesday. Matthew Wright's day didn't exactly go smoothly.
In the first half of Phoenix's eventual win over Globalport in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup, Wright received what has an apparent clothesline from Batang Pier import Malcolm White.
The hit happened as Wright was driving to the hoop, there was no call and the second-year Phoenix forward was eventually credited with a turnover after Sean Anthony stole the ball away from him.
To make matters worse, after Wright pleaded his case to officials, he was given a technical foul for his troubles.
He eventually fouled out in the second half just as the Fuel Masters were cruising for the win over Globalport.
"Yeah that's terrible," Wright said when asked about his frustrations over the no call and his technical.
"That's awful... I can't explain how mad I am because Malcolm has done that," Wright added, referring to White's previous incidents against other teams.
The Fil-Canadian sniper also vented his ire on officials, who missed the call altogether and instead gave him a technical foul for throwing a fit afterwards.
"He’s done that in this league to Chris Tiu. I’ve seen him knock his tooth out, I’ve seen him hit Renaldo Balkman in the head. The league has got to do something because the referee-ing is horrible," he said.
"That’s awful. You can’t just swing at somebody’s head like that and I’m the one who gets punished for that. They gotta get their sh*t together," Wright added.
