The KaTropa are still in the running for one of the two twice-to-beat advantages in the quarterfinals largely thanks to Troy Rosario.
With back-to-back losses, TNT was in danger of nullifying its near perfect start in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
If the KaTropa dropped to 6-5, it would have been disastrous.
Instead, TNT beat Meralco in a crucial one, forcing a tie for third place with the Bolts with identical 7-3 records.
More importantly, the KaTropa are still in the running for one of the two twice-to-beat advantages in the quarterfinals.
Friday against Meralco, no one was bigger for TNT than Troy Rosario who scored 30 points and 12 rebounds.
30 points is one shy of Troy's career high.
"Kailangan na kailangan talaga namin yung panalo kasi umaasa pa rin kami dun sa twice to beat. May chance pa kami," Rosario said.
"Sana yung last game namin maipanalo din namin," he added.
With import Joshua Smith playing less than 20 minutes, it was Rosario that took over for the KaTropa, pouring 19 points in the second half including 13 in a pivotal third quarter.
Smith was sidelined in the second half due to a bloodied nose due to a hit from Arinze Onuaku.
"Malaking bagay na nawala si Josh sa court," Rosario said.
"Di naman natin ginusto yung nangyari sa kanya. Pero yun nga, yung teamwork dun lumalabas eh, kung merong isang nags-struggle o na-injure, talagang dun lumalabas yung laro nung mga teammates," he added.
