After enjoying a seven-game win streak, the Alaska Aces stumbled to their second straight loss, with both losses coming at an average of 17 points.
Despite posting only 74 and 86 points, a far cry from their average of over 103 points a game, Vic Manuel has kept his scoring load afloat, posting his ninth straight 20-point game of the season with 20 markers.
With Antonio Campbell being virtually listless, finishing the game with six points, Manuel took the scoring reins when the game was all but in the books for Ginebra, reflecting a poor shooting night for the team, which had only converted 39% collectively.
In the loss, Manuel lamented the team's disastrous effort on defense, which led to clean looks, and was complemented by Ginebra's hot shooting and the Aces' misfortunes.
"Ang sama ng start namin, ang lambot e. Yung Ginebra, sobrang aggressive nila, kami, ayun sobrang soft namin kaya natambakan siguro kami."
With another loss in the books, Manuel stressed that this is not the time for a lackadaisical effort for the team in general, as they head to the playoffs with a guaranteed top-three finish, and need to win their last game against Phoenix in order to secure the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
"Parang nagre-relax. Masyadong kumpiyansa. Tapos siguro last game namin, hindi na pwedeng ganito. Bago matapos yung elimination, kailangan makuha namin yung panalo para pagdating namin sa playoffs, maganda yung tatakbuhin namin, maibalik namin yung pagiging aggressive namin. Yun ang nawala sa amin the last two games namin e."
