PBA: White-hot Gin Kings demolish Aces

Ginebra's resurgence continues.

The Gin Kings demolished Alaska Sunday, picking up a big 105-86 win in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Big Dome.

It was the fourth straight win for Ginebra and the barangay is back up to .500 with a 5-5 record, tied with Globalport for 6th place.

The Gin Kings were on fire to start as import Justin Brownlee led the Ginebra offense for a 30-16 count at the end of the opening period.

Ginebra was up, 63-38, in the first half and save for a mini Alaska run to start the third period, the second half was basically garbage time with the in Kings leading by as many as 33 points.

"I told the guys at halftime, I was shocked, I was surprised by what happened in that first half. We had a really good groove, I don't know why, I don't know what we're doing that making us play as good as we are, but it's working. I wish I know what it was so we can continue to do it," head coach Tim Cone said.

"But we're playing really well, guys are sharing the ball well, our defense has really stepped up. We did the little things well defensively that disrupted what they wanted to do, and we were able to turn that to transition points and build a big lead," he added.

Brownlee led the way with 28 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. LA Tenorio scored 12 while Sol Mercado and Japeth Aguilar finished with 10 each.

For the Aces, who have now lost back-to-back after a seven-game run, it was Vic Manuel that carried the offense with 20 points. However, import Antonio Campbell had his worst game of the tournament, scoring only six points.

Alaska dropped to 7-3, tied with idle TNT for second place behind no. 1 Rain or Shine.
