The game also had pretty much no bearing for the KaTropa but TNT does lock up the no. 3 seed with the victory and will face one of the three San Miguel teams in the best-of-3 quarterfinals.
Down goes no. 1 Rain or Shine.
The KaTropa will enter the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs with incredible momentum after TNT smashed top-seed Rain or Shine Saturday at the Big Dome, taking a huge 100-85 victory.
While the game had pretty much no bearing for Rain or Shine, the loss does put the Elasto Painters down to 9-2 and they will enter the quarterfinals on the heels of a 15-point beatdown.
The game also had pretty much no bearing for the KaTropa but TNT (8-3) does lock up the no. 3 seed with the victory and will face one of the three San Miguel teams in the best-of-3 quarterfinals.
"That's a no bearing game for them. I think in the first half, just watching our players perform, I really felt they had the same mentality as Rain or Shine but we had to remind them at halftime that this game has bearing for us, specifically because over the last two weeks when the PBA had a break, we never had a complete team in practice," head coach Nash Racela said.
"So we never had time to work on a lot of things because they were all focus on Gilas. And even the last two days that they were present, we still weren't able to upgrade what we're doing as a team. It was more a refresher for a lot of them. We just reminded them during halftime, let us make this game work for us because this is almost like our practice sessions as a complete crew," he added.
The KaTropa were pretty much in control the whole game but they dropped the hammer in the fourth, leading by as many as 22 points, 100-78, before ROS scored the final seven points.
Joshua Smith led the way, dropping 25 points and 13 rebounds despite wearing a protective mask due to a broken nose.
Troy Rosario was the top local for the KaTropa, scoring 19 while Terrence Romeo had a career-high 12 assists despite finishing with only two points.
For ROS, Reggie Johnson scored 12 points to pace the offense.
