GlobalPort guard Ryan Araña is doubtful to see action in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals do-or-die match after sustaining a back injury in the Batang Pier’s close-shaved 114-113 win over Rain or Shine Tuesday at the Big Dome.
Araña could miss GlobalPort’s winner-take-all match on Thursday following a bad fall that took him out of the game with 35 seconds remaining before halftime.
“Ngayon ‘yung likod medyo tight ang muscle. Nag-contract siya, kumbaga parang pinrotektahan niya yung spine so medyo may pain especially kapag naglalakad,” said Araña, who only had four minutes of action.
Araña fell flat on his back while trying to block Chris Tiu’s layup attempt with GlobalPort behind, 50-54.
Pag-layup niya kumbaga mas mataas ang talon ko sa kanya tapos sumabit ang paa ko sa paa niya so na-out of balance ako,” said Araña, who went scoreless but pulled down two rebounds before his early exit.
But with just a day of rest before the all-important match with the semifinals slot on the line, Araña might be skip the match.
