The Asean Basketball League Championship was more than enough to paint Renaldo Balkman as a winner as opposed to what had been his infamous image in the minds of Filipinos.
He wasn’t stopping there just yet, though.
Balkman returned to the very league and the very team where he had experience his downfall.
And now, he is seven wins away from the final destination of his redemption tour – a PBA championship with San Miguel. “Like I told y’all from day one, it’s a blessing to come back here and play in the PBA. To win it will be an even better blessing for me,” he told reporters after he and his teammates completed their quarterfinals sweep of TNT on Wednesday.
Fortunately for the Puerto Rican reinforcement, his teammates only have his back.
For that, Balkman is nothing but grateful. “I got a great group of guys. There’s no one man in a team and we doin’ it together right now,” he shared.
He then continued, “I’ll be in a foxhole with every guy here any day. Right now, we’re in a foxhole fighting for the championship.”
