Back in 2009, Slaughter's University of Visayas beat Fajardo's University of Cebu, 3-1, to win the CESAFI crown.

Fast forward to 2018, for the first time ever in the PBA, both behemoths go at each other again with a title on the line as Slaughter's Brgy. Ginebra Gin Kings challenge June Mar's San Miguel Beermen for the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

"He said he's eyeing vengeance?" Slaughter said with a sly smile on Fajardo's earlier comment about wanting to get back at him for the previous CESAFI loss.

"You know, yeah. I would be too. As competitors, we're here to compete. We're competing against each other since our CESADI days. It's another opportunity [PBA Finals] to compete against each other," he added.

Nine years since their last Finals matchup, some things just don't change between Greg and June Mar.

For one, Slaughter says going up against Fajardo is always a challenge.

And despite the fact that their positioned as rivals due to them simply standing over pretty much everyone, Greg refuses to label his rivalry with June Mar as something personal.

It's just two guys trying to win a ring.

"It’s a tough match up and a huge obstacle to overcome but I’m not making it as a personal matchup," Slaughter said.

"It’s a team matchup. At the end of the day, we’re both trying to win a championship," he added.
