"We were very candid, baka kulelat tayo diyan," ROS Governor Atty. Mert Mondragon said. "But with Yeng, miracles can happen."
To say that Rain or Shine will be rushed in its preparation for the 2018 Asian Games would be a major understatement.
As it stands, the only sure thing going on right now is that the Philippine team's core will be made up of the Elasto Painters and Yeng Guiao will handle the team.
The rest of the lineup however, will depend on a lot of things.
"There's seven ROS members, and then yun nga yung tatlong cadets. We're throwing as many names as we can including some big men from NLEX," SBP President Al Panlilio said on the Asian Games lineup.
"I spoke to coach Yeng, he's thinking of including Asi [Taulava] just to help out in guarding the some big guys from the other teams. We also gave feedback to coach Yeng, he's finalizing as of the moment, we're rushing him to really come up with a lineup already," he added.
With an incomplete lineup and limited preparation, expectations are naturally limited for Rain or Shine.
"We were very candid, baka kulelat tayo diyan," ROS Governor Atty. Mert Mondragon said.
However, the Elasto Painters will fight. And stranger things have happened in basketball. With a ROS reunion in place, there's still confidence that the team will deliver in Indonesia.
"But with Yeng, miracles can happen," Atty. Mondragon said.
"Coach Yeng and ROS proved naman na they can be very competitive. Obviously this is the international stage. We're hoping for the best, for sure they will play hard," Panlilio added.
