PBA: Leo admits complete defeat:
"I think this is the game I don't want to experience ano, especially in the championship series," Austria said after the terrible Game 1 loss.

Simply put, defending champion San Miguel Beer was embarrassed by Brgy. Ginebra Friday to start the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals.

The Gin Kings ran the Beermen out of the Big Dome, leading by as many as 39 points before taking a 28-point win and a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Head coach Leo Austria had no choice but to acknowledge complete defeat.

"I think this is the game I don't want to experience ano, especially in the championship series," Austria said after the terrible Game 1 loss.

"We've been humiliated by the Ginebra ano. We were outcoached. We're not able to execute our game plan ano because we thought our talent that we used during the playoffs, from quarterfinals to the semifinals, will be overwhelming. But against Ginebra, whic is equally talented, and sinasabi nating superpower, they also have a lot of focus and experience dito sa playoffs. Talagang mahirap," he added.

San Miguel simple had no answer to Ginebra's sizzling start.

Led by import Justin Brownlee, who had 18 points in the opening period and 29 by halftime, the Gin Kings were already in a commanding lead before the Beermen settled in.

"They came out really on fire and to the letter nasusunod yung kanilang gameplan and it was very obvious. We're surprised because of the complacency. I think they came out really prepared," Austria said.

Fortunately for San Miguel, this is just Game 1 and the champs have plenty of time to recover.

They can start with Game 2 set for Sunday.

"The good thing is this is a best-of-7. Matalo kami ng 40 o 50, this is just one game," Austria said.

"We have to move forward and we have to adjust next game dahil all the players of Ginebra is really focused eh, kahit sino ipasok mo alam nila," he added.
