"I’m pretty sure there’s still a lot of mistakes that we need to patch up so we’re still striving for that perfect game. Hopefully we could attain that," --- Alex Cabagnot.
Limited to only five points in Game 1, Alex Cabagnot sure showed up in Game 2 of the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals against Brgy. Ginebra.
By halftime, Cabagnot already had 22 points, eight assists, and four steals for San Miguel, leading the Beermen's charge to a commanding 75-46 lead.
As the defending champions wrapped a convincing 134-109 decision, Cabagnot had scored a new PBA career-high of 33 points.
"The shots were just falling today I guess," Cabagnot said.
"Maraming salamat sa coaching staff for allowing me to play today. And it was different in Game 1, pero like what I tell my UP boys, you can’t control the environment. All you could control is when you’re inside the 94 feet. You just do your best and let God do the rest," he added.
Despite an emphatic answer to Game 2 after taking a haymaker from Ginebra in Game 1, Cabagnot says it's just the natural flow of a best-of-7 Finals series.
With the series now tied at one apiece, the reigning Finals MVP looks to correct more mistakes as the series goes on.
Hopefully, the Beermen can find that parfect game soon that could greatly help seal this championship.
"We’re not thinking about it like that. They played well in Game 1. We played well in Game 2. That’s just the ebony-ivory flow of the series so we can’t look at it as personal like that so we just have to continue to watch extensive film and just continue to learn," Cabagnot said.
"I’m pretty sure there’s still a lot of mistakes that we need to patch up so we’re still striving for that perfect game. Hopefully we could attain that," he added.
