PBA: San Miguel returns favor, destroys Ginebra in Game 2
Limited to only five points in Game 1, Cabagnot fired 22 points on top of eight assists and four steals in the first 24 minutes alone. He finished with a career-high 33 points.

San Miguel was definitely knocked down in Game 1 of the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals after taking a vicious uppercut from Brgy. Ginebra.

In Game 2 Sunday at the Big Dome, the Beermen got up and landed their own haymaker on the barangay and tied the best-of-7 at one game each after a 134-109 victory.

Demolished in the series opener, San Miguel wasted little time in responding back, opening Game 2 with a quick 6-0 run.

That set the tone and the Beermen rolled to a 29-point lead at halftime, 75-46, behind a sensational performance from Alex Cabagnot.

Limited to only five points in Game 1, Cabagnot fired 22 points on top of eight assists and four steals in the first 24 minutes alone. He finished with a career-high 33 points.

"You know, we're so sad with what happened last game, we've been humiliated ano, humiliated. This time, we're able to get back, and even the series ano. Now, we have a series," head coach Leo Austria said.

"So thankful with the players, because they were able to realize the importance of Game 2. The percentage of winning a championship if you're down by two wins, it's really hard. But they came out really furious," he added.

Following Cabagnot's lead, four other Beermen finished with at least 20 points as San Miguel simply overpowered Ginebra in a near-perfect performance.

June Mar Fajardo added 25 points for the defending champions while Renaldo Balkman, Marcio Lassiter, and Christian Standhardinger all finished with 20 points each.

For the Gin Kings, it was Justin Brownlee that led the team in scoring once again, dropping 29 points in a losing effort.

Game 3 will be on Wednesday also at the Big Dome.
