PBA: Beermen destroy Ginebra by 38 points for 2-1 lead

San Miguel takes over the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals after landing another vicious uppercut on Brgy. Ginebra.
We got our close game alright, for one half that is.
San Miguel flipped the switch in the third quarter of Game 3 and went on to destroy Ginebra once again in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, scoring a 132-94 win Wednesday at the Big Dome.
Up by only two at the break, 53-51, the Beermen dropped the hammer on the Gin Kings in the third with Chris Ross and Renaldo Balkman at the lead.
After draining four triples in the opening half, Ross added another three treys for the Beermen coming out of the dugout as San Miguel started to created separation.
Things got out of hand for the barangay when Balkman went berserk to end the quarter, with a final layup giving San Miguel a 20-point lead, 92-72.
The Beermen led by as many as 40 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
"Well, I'm not expecting this to happen, ano. Because I think it's kinda weird. First game, tinambakan kami, second game nakabawi kami, tambak. And this is another blowout, so this is a championship game. We're expecting a close fight," head coach Leo Austria said.
"But I have to give credit to these players of mine, because I can see it from them na they want really to win. And we started the game a little bit slow, but we picked up in the second half, especially in the third quarter. And everybody was so focused on our game plan," he added.
Import Renaldo Balkman led the Beermen with 28 points, 13 in the pivotal third quarter, to go along with 11 rebounds and five assists.
Chris Ross added 23 points, 21 from beyond the arc, on top of seven rebounds and five assists. June Mar Fajardo finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds.
Ginebra actually started better with Justin Brownlee leading the way, scoring 11 points in the opening period.
But as Ross started to click from the outside, San Miguel maintained steady control before opening the floodgates in the second half.
Brownlee topscored the Gin Kings once again with 32 points in Game 3.
