Game 4 of the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals was Ginebra's do-or-die game against San Miguel.

Lose and the Gin Kings go down 1-3 to the Beermen. Not exactly ideal.

That's why Ginebra was almost required to have a good outing Friday in order to make these Finals somewhat competitive again and the Gin Kings sure gave a worthy performance powered by a historic start.

The barangay started Game 4 with an emphatic 17-0 run and rolled all 130-100 series-tying victory. Now it's back to square one in this epic Clash of Titans for the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

"This is our do-or-die game against San Miguel," guard LA Tenorio said.

"We all know how strong San Miguel is so going to this game yun na yung mindset namin, do-or-die game na," he added.

The great start was crucial for the Gin Kings as each of the first four games of this series ended in blowouts.

It was important for Ginebra to set the tone and they did.

"Yung start talaga nagse-set ng tone eh, the way we look at the games. We always expect close games every game, di rin namin inexpect na magiging ganito talaga. We just need a one-point win, yun lang kailangan namin. What's important is we get the W," Tenorio said.

"[Coach Tim] challenged us. Game 3, talagang pinakita ng San Miguel na mas malakas sila samin," he added.

In Game 3, Ginebra locals went AWOL as the Beermen issued a sound beatdown.

In Game 4 the local crew showed up to help Best Import Justin Brownlee get the job done.

Greg Slaughter and Joe Devance scored 19 and 18 points respectively for Ginebra. Tenorio himself had 17 in a starting role.

"We cannot be Justin reliant. Di dapat kami mag-rely lang sa kaniya on offense. He's been great but we can't just rely on that," Tenorio said.

"We have to duplicate this game for the next game. This game is not good enough for us to win again, we're expecting a stronger San Miguel tulad nung ginawa nila nung Game 2 at Game 3," he added.
