You know, What happened, happened. It wasn’t that bad. It made it seem like it looked all bad but we’re just walking to the dugout. That’s all -- SMB import Renaldo Balkman
Just a little shove, a quick exchange of words and nothing more.
San Miguel Beer import Renaldo Balkman downplayed the altercation between him and Barangay Ginebra forward Joe Devance at halftime of their 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Game 4 Friday at the Big Dome.
“None really. It’s nothing, I mean. We don’t have no fight,” said Balkman after the Beermen absorbed a 100-130 beat down from the Gin Kings that tied the series to 2-2.
Balkman scored a buzzer-beater under the basket at the end of the second period with the SMB far behind, 52-67. He bumped into Devance as they exit the court.
Balkman and Devance then figured into a shoving match before cooler heads prevailed.
“You know, What happened, happened. It wasn’t that bad. It made it seem like it looked all bad but we’re just walking to the dugout. That’s all,” said Balkman, who finished 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Even Devance was quick to say that they are all good now.
“Uhm, it was, it was no big deal,” he said. “Just a little pushing. Just a little pushing.”
“You know, nothin'. There wasn't no punches thrown or anything like that. You know, I mean, emotions are going to be high, you know, so that's all it was. It wasn't nothing big,” he added.
Devance understood where Balkman was coming from.
“I mean, he's an emotional guy. He's a great player. He went to the NBA, he's just very passionate,” he said. “We've been cool the whole time so…”
