Alaska drafted Abueva out of San Sebastian in 2012. Calvin was the no. 2 pick right behind San Miguel's June Mar Fajardo.

With Abueva, Alaska won the 2013 Commissioner's Cup and the team made it to four more Finals, but ended up losing three times to the Beermen and once to Rain or Shine.
