PBA: Latest championship is Scottie's gift to the barangay
Yung iba umuutang pa pambili ng ticket so deserve nila to, para sa kanila talaga to," Thompson said.

Scottie Thompson's final collegiate season with Perpetual Help was filled with despair.

Coming off an MVP season, Scottie lost his top individual award and the Altas didn't even make the Final Four in his last year.

Now in his third year in the PBA, Thompson already has three championships with Ginebra. And after the Gin Kings beat San Miguel in six games for the 2018 Commissioner's Cup, Scottie now has a Finals MVP award too.

"From the start ng career ko yun iniisip ko. God gave me this opportunity, everything happens for a reason.

Yung championship talaga gusto ko," he added.

With the Gin Kings down 1-2 in the Finals following a 38-point beating in Game 3, Scottie played a key role in helping the barangay win three games to clinch the title.

Thompson was clutch in Ginebra's series-altering Game 5 win. In Game 6, Scottie posted a double-double.

"Unang-una iniisip ko talaga na to help my team to win the championship. Yun lang iniisip ko, yun lang gusto ko mangyari," he said.

"Naging 1-2 kami this series, inisip lang namin one game at a time. Yung Game 4 yung naging turning point namin na dapat maka-tabla kami," Thompson added.

More than the huge desire to win the title, Scottie says the undying support of the Ginebra fans fueled his own effort to try and come away with the win.

This championship is his gift to the barangay.

Yung iba umuutang pa pambili ng ticket so deserve nila to, para sa kanila talaga to," Thompson said.
