Clarkson makes Gilas final 12 for Asian Games
National team head coach Yeng Guiao revealed his final 12 for the 2018 Asian Games Friday and he included the combo guard from the Cleveland Cavaliers as insurance if and when Clarkson is actually eligible to play in Indonesia next week.

Jordan Clarkson is finally in Gilas Pilipinas.

Well sort of.

National team head coach Yeng Guiao revealed his final 12 for the 2018 Asian Games Friday and he included the combo guard from the Cleveland Cavaliers as insurance if and when Clarkson is actually eligible to play in Indonesia next week.

"We put Jordan there since we wanna make sure there's a slot for him. We're still working on the procedures. SBP officials and other concerned people are working hard on trying to get him to play for the team," Guiao said.

"So far, wala pang maliwanag but we put him in the lineup just to make sure if all of those requirements are complied with, he has a slot in the team," he added.

As of press time, there's still no word on the Clarkson's official status for the Asian Games but Guiao is willing to take the risk of putting Jordan's name in his final 12.

The rest of the Gilas team for the Asiad is officially set though, led by the core of Rain or Shine in Chris Tiu, Maverick Ahanmisi, Beau Belga, Raymond Almazan, James Yap, and Gabe Norwood.

Completing the team are JP Erram, Christian Standhardinger, Paul Lee, Stanley Pringle, and Asi Taulava.

Don Trollano was supposed to be the final member of the team but opted to give up his slot for Clarkson. Ricci Rivero and Kobe Paras were the two cuts from the original 14-man pool unveiled last week.

The Philippine national team is set to leave for Indonesia on Sunday.
