PBA: Depleted NLEX frustrates TNT to start Govs' Cup
NLEX is still without Kiefer Ravena [FIBA suspension] and Kevin Alas [ACL injury] due to various reasons and head coach Yeng Guiao is in Indonesia handling Gilas Pilipinas in the Asian Games, but the Road Warriors had more than enough to take down the KaTropa to get their campaign going in the season-ending joust. Center Asi Taulava is also out as he's with the national team in Jakarta.

ANTIPOLO CITY --- No head coach, no starting backcourt, no problem for NLEX.

The Road Warriors frustrated sister team TNT to start the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup Friday at the Ynares Center here, scoring a 103-90 win.

"It's always nuce to win but upon leaving, si coach Yeng he only wished na sana before he comes back from the Asian Games that we're not in an 0-2, or 0-3 hole," assistant coach Jojo Lastimosa said.

"Sana pagbalik niya, in contention pa rin kami," he added.

NLEX certainly got off on the right foot in the Governors' Cup led by import Olu Ashaolu.

Ashaolu dropped 33 points and 23 rebounds in 42 minutes of play despite dealing with a knee injury.

Behind him were locals led by Mac Tallo with 16 points and Larry Fonacier with 14.

The Road Warriors were in control from the start and led by as many as 17 points late in the fourth.

TNT got 27 points from Terrence Romeo and 15 from Jayson Castro however, import Mike Glover didn't exactly impress with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
