ANTIPOLO CITY -- Both Meralco head coach Norman Black and import Allen Durham expressed their frustrations in their 95-93 loss against an All-Filipino TNT KaTropa.
Going up against a KaTropa squad with no foreign reinforcement since Mike Glover is set to be replaced, Black feels that two-time Best Import Durham should have taken advantage of the situation.
"That should have been our advantage. That should have been their problem, playing without an import. Considering that we have the best import, we should have beaten them. Credit to Talk ‘N Text cause they really played well, but playing without an import, it’s a game we should have won," Black said after the game.
For Durham, he echoes the same sentiments as his mentor, adding that their lackadaisical defensive effort was not up to par.
"We just played terrible tonight. We wasn't decisive about anything that we did tonight. We were like, too hesitant on anything. Our defense, we too soft. We too soft. We gotta get mean, angry, something, you know?"
Durham also mentioned that what they played was not 'championship defense', and was not even at the level they were playing in their win against the Columbian Dyip last Friday.
Even though he got the usual gaudy numbers of 27 points, 22 rebounds, and eight assists, the 6'4.5" import lamented that he didn't play his best and that there needs to be corrections on the team's play.
"I think everybody on the team, we just want to warn ourselves tonight so everybody gotta look in the mirror and we got to get back to work on Tuesday and put out a better product when we play Alaska."
