After NLEX beat Northport Sunday, 123-107, coach Jolas read a message from coach Yeng post-game and Guiao is now considering taking job offers in Indonesia.
ANTIPOLO CITY --- NLEX is having a dream start in the 2018 Governors' Cup.
Without Kiefer Ravena, Kevin Alas, Asi Taulava, and head coach Yeng Guiao, the Road Warriors have two impressive wins in three days to start the season-ending joust, taking over first place with a 2-0 record.
The team is doing well without several key pieces, with assistant coach Jojo Lastimosa doing a great job filling in for coach Yeng.
After NLEX beat Northport Sunday, 123-107, Coach Jolas read a message from coach Yeng post-game and Guiao is now considering taking job offers in Indonesia.
Guiao is currently in Jakarta leading Gilas Pilipinas' campaign in the 2018 Asian Games. The whole thing is a joke of course.
"Congrats coach, nice job. Hanap na ako work dito sa Jakarta mukhang di ako kailangan diyan," coach Jolas said as he read coach Yeng's message on his phone.
Despite the stellar start with him in charge, Lastimosa is quick to give credit to the entire NLEX coaching staff, adding that it's a complete team effort to keep the team afloat with Guiao out.
"This is not my sole responsibility," he said.
"I'm just here facing you guys but the other guys have been doing the heavy lifting. I'm just doing the subs and I have to aske them if it's okay if they say don't, then I won't put the guys in. A lot of preparation happens in practice and the other coaches are really, really working," Lastimosa added.
