PBA: NLEX rolls to second straight impressive win
Olu Ashaolu once again shined for the Road Warriors, dropping 27 points and 13 rebounds.

ANTIPOLO CITY --- NLEX continues to impress in the early goings of the 2018 Governors' Cup.

The Road Warriors rolled to their second win in three days in the season-ending conference, overwhelming Northport Sunday, 123-107, at the Ynares Center here.

Using an overall team effort, NLEX overcame 42 points from Batang Pier import Rashad Woods.

Olu Ashaolu once again shined for the Road Warriors, dropping 27 points and 13 rebounds.

Six locals also finished in double figures for NLEX, with Larry Fonacier and Mark Tallo scoring 14 each, as the team took an early lead in the Governors' Cup with a 2-0 mark. The Batang Pier lose their opener for a 0-1 record.

"I was surprised with how they responded," assistant coach Jojo Lastimosa on NLEX's impressive start to the conference.

"It means they responded really well to our challenge that in order for us to win, we need a collective effort," he added.

After a high-scoring first half, NLEX pulled away in the third with Olu scoring 13 points to turn a 61-58 lead into a 94-78 spread entering the fourth.

The Road Warriors led by as many as 19 in the fourth quarter, 121-102.

Northport got a monster game from its debuting import but to no avail. Mo Tautuaa was the top local for the Batang Pier, scoring 20 points.

NorthPort 107 - Woods 42, Tautuaa 20, Taha 15, Grey 13, Javelona 8, Teng 5, Guinto 3, Elorde 1, Espinas 0, Gabayni 0.
