Eugene Phelps' wool Gucci headband costs a cool P30,000. He scored 50 points while wearing it.
People don't normally wear Gucci headbands to games because Gucci does not necessarily make athletic headbands.
Eugene Phelps is no normal player.
El Destructor balled out for Phoenix once again, scoring 50 points on 62 percent shooting for the Fuel Masters to start the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup Wednesday at the Big Dome.
Phelps also grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked eight shots in the win, all while sporting a green and red Gucci wool headband.
Eugene didn't have any special reason for the fashion move, he just really liked the head piece.
"That's my drip, drip means swag. So my drip is hella high right now. I saw it, I bought it," Phelps said of the headband listed at $540 or a cool P28,860 in the latest exchange rates.
"The Gucci band helped me out so yeah," he added.
Phelps has been one of the better imports in the PBA in the last three years. However, Phoenix almost always falls short of expectations for various reasons.
This time though, El Destructor is confident as the Fuel Masters have added Calvin Abueva to the fold.
The Beast and El Destructor in the same team, with shooter Matthew Wright in the wings, Phoenix might as well meet expectations this time around.
"Calvin helped us out a whole lot. He just brings that energy. This was a whole team effort. Just a good team, hopefully we build on that," Phelps said.
"We just gotta play our game. I feel like we can probably go to the semis, maybe even the Finals. We'll see how it goes," he added.
