PBA: 'Nothing personal' for Calvin Abueva as he faces Alaska for the first time

Calvin Abueva is not really concerned his first meeting against Alaska.
It will be all business and nothing personal for Calvin Abueva as he faces his former team Alaska Aces Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Both teams have started red-hot in the 2018 Governors' Cup, with Phoenix and Alaska both sporting a 2-0 record in the early going.
Since one clean slate has to be stained Wednesday, one could not help but wonder how does the enigmatic Abueva feels about his first-ever matchup with his team of six years.
"Wednesday is a good matchup. Enjoy 'to. Wala naman. Di naman sa player yan e, sa coaches yan kung ano dapat nilang gawin," Abueva said on the upcoming matchup.
As he defends the dramatically-improved Vic Manuel on the post for the first time, the 6'2" forward is not really concerned on the face-off.
"Sa akin siyempre sa court yan. Wala naman personalan yan. Sa court, sa court. Sa labas, iba kami."
With Abueva posting another solid outing of 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists that merited him the Player of the Game honors, all he is trying to make people show that he is a man making up for lost time.
It can be remembered that he last played in PBA All-Star festivities late May before going AWOL and being suspended by his former team.
"Noong time na na-stuck yung paglalaro ko nung last conference, ngayon ko nababawi yung mga dapat kong nilalaro. Sa akin good start 'to para sa amin kasi lahat kami nag-contribute from first five to bench. Nilabas namin yung energy namin."
Abueva also added that he is trying to reprise himself as a serviceable role player, and will do anything at the behest of head coach Louie Alas, and assistant coach Topex Robinson.
"Ako yung akin lang is to be a role player ng team na to and give my best lang, kung ano yung dapat namin laruin, yung mga dapat namin i-adjust dito sa team ko, sakin, kung papano ako mag-adjust at kung paano sila mag-adjust."
