PBA: Phoenix burns Northport by 41 points
Phoenix scored its second win in as many games, tying Alaska for the early lead in the standings.

A day of blowouts ends with Phoenix rising for a second straight win.

The Fuel Masters burned the Nortport Batang Pier Sunday in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup, dominating with a 132-91 victory at the Big Dome.

Phoenix scored its second win in as many games, tying Alaska for the early lead in the standings.

"Nice to win two in a row," head coach Louie Alas said.

"Looking forward to hopefully limiting turnovers namin and fastbreak points na gini-give up namin. Alaska is best sa forcing turnovers so if we limit our turnovers, it will be a good game for us," he added, already eyeing the showdown with the Aces three days from now.

But back to the game against the Batang Pier, the Fuel Masters unloaded a 14-0 run to end the first half up 60-43.

Phoenix then just kept pounding on Northport in the second half, eventually leading by as many as 44 points late in the fourth period.

The 41-point win is the largest margin of victory for the Fuel Masters in franchise history.

Imprt Eugene Phelps scored 30 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Phoenix. Five other locals scored in double figures led by rookie Jason Perkins with 18 points.

RJ Jazul added 15 while Calvin Abueva was good for 12 points in his second game  for the Fuel Masters.

The Batang Pier got 42 points from Rashad Woods but it wasn't enough. Northport dropped to 0-2 in the standings.

PHOENIX 132 – Phelps 30, Perkins 18, Jazul 15, Abueva 12, Eriobu 10, Wright 10, Revilla 9, Chua 7, Intal 7, Mendoza 6, Wilson 5, Gamboa 3.

NORTHPORT 91 – Woods 42, Taha 15, Grey 7, Elorde 6, Guinto 6, Javelona 5, Espinas 4, Flores 4, Tautuaa 2, Gabayni 0.

Quarters: 37-28, 60-43, 94-62, 132-91.
