Standhardinger posted his PBA career high in points as the Beermen beat NLEX at the Big Dome to start their campaign in the season-ending joust.
Christian Standhardinger scored 27 points for Gilas Pilipinas Friday in the 2018 Asian Games, helping the Philippines beat Syria to win 5th place.
By Saturday, he's back in Manila, helping San Miguel Beer win its opener in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.
Standhardinger posted his PBA career high in points as the Beermen beat NLEX, 125-112, at the Big Dome to start their campaign in the season-ending joust.
Despite arriving late in the game after the national team's flight from Jakarta and checking in late in the first period, Standhardinger dropped 36 points and grabbed another 11 rebounds for San Miguel.
"I have to appreciate Christian," head coach Leo Austria said.
"He played in the Asian Games and I think it helps a lot, yung kanyang experience dun. Yung ginawa niya dito parang yung nilaro niya sa Asian Games," he added.
Standhardinger's impact was immediate for the Beermen, scoring 13 points in the second period to help San Miguel turn a 26-28 first-quarter deficit into a 62-54 lead at the break.
He would score another 23 in the second half to power the Beermen's offense.
After Standhardinger, returning import AZ Reid fired 30 points for San Miguel on top of 13 rebounds and six assists while Alex Cabagnot was good for 23 markers.
NLEX got 36 from Aaron Fuller but the Road Warriors dropped to 3-2 in the standings with the loss.
