PBA: Brownlee just keeps getting better for Ginebra

Simply put, Justin Brownlee is just balling his brains out in the PBA.

After a 34-point, 20-rebound performance in their 2018 Governors' Cup opener, Brownlee fired 45 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists for two-time champion Ginebra, leading the Gin Kings to a nice win over the previously-undefeated Alaska Aces Sunday.

With the game still on the line with less than three minutes to go, Brownlee scored 11 straight points for Ginebra and the barangay kept the Aces at bay.

However, Brownlee dominating the court is not always the most ideal situation for Ginebra.

After Brownlee, only Japeth Aguilar (24 points) and Kevin Ferrer (11 points)  finished in double figures for the champs.

"We can't bee too Justin reliant," head coach Tim Cone said of his super import.

"Everybody's got to step up at some point. Because we're not in game shape, we're missing some guys," he added.

Joe Devance and Sol Mercado are currently out dealing with injuries for Ginebra while Japeth Aguilar is not exactly 100 percent healthy yet after going through some nagging issues last conference.

But there are games to win for Ginebra and if Brownlee going full Superman is the way to go, Cone will take it now and worry about adjusting accordingly later.

"If Justin has to go score 50-60 points for us to win then we'll take that at this point," Cone said.

"Hopefully we'll smooth ourselves out," he added.
