The victory pushed the KaTropa to 2-4 in the standings while the Dyip ended up with a 0-4 mark after their 21st consecutive loss in the Governors' Cup dating back to 2016.
TNT snaps its three-game losing skid... barely.
The KaTropa finally regained some signal, beating a gutsy Columbian team in overtime, 118-114, Sunday at the Big Dome in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.
Losing a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter, TNT recovered in time to win its first game without head coach Nash Racela, who is "on leave" after back-to-back lopsided defeats to Alaska and Phoenix in the past week.
The victory pushed the KaTropa to 2-4 in the standings while the Dyip ended up with a 0-5 mark after their 21st consecutive loss in the Governors' Cup dating back to 2016.
Things got chippy late in overtime as Terrence Romeo and Rashawn McCarthy got into it face-to-face, resulting in Romeo getting called for a technical foul.
Terrence would get the last laugh though, beating McCarthy one-on-one to score a driving layup with less than a minute to go to give the KaTropa a three-point lead and the eventual win.
"Must-win po yun," assistant coach Eric Gonzales said, who called the game for TNT in place of Racela.
"Mahirap. Kita niyo naman, hindi pwedeng sabihing Columbian lang yan or ano. Talagang napakahirap pero thankful po ako na nanalo," he added.
Jayson Castro led the KaTropa with 25 points on top of six rebounds and seven assists while Romeo finished with 22 points and six dimes.
RR Pogoy and Anthony Semerad added 16 and 15 points respectively for TNT.
Columbian once again gave a brave performance only to lose in the end.
Jerramy King continued his impressive outings this conference, firing 26 points. Import Akeem Wright barely missed a triple-double and the win with 24 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.
