PBA: Elite see tough win as preparation for the Gin Kings
Pero what’s good there is nilagay kami sa sitwasyon ng building ng character and test of character, kailangan namin yun eh -- Blackwater head coach Bong Ramos

Blackwater needed to comeback from 18 points down just to preserve its unbeaten record.

The Elite played catch up the whole game before making a huge rally in last five minutes to walk away with a 113-11 win over NorthPort on Wednesday in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Big Dome.

It was an ugly win but Blackwater head coach Bong Ramos said that it’s this kind of game that his men need as they head into a tougher battle against Barangay Ginebra.

The Elite and Gin Kings are tied at the top spot with 3-0 win-loss records heading into their match on Friday.

“We want to face Ginebra on Friday coming from a win because that will be a good momentum for us,” said Ramos, whose squad in last year’s edition started with three straight losses.

Blackwater went down, 53-35, in the second quarter but slowly chopped down its deficit before pulling off a 7-0 spurt in the fourth period as the Batang Pier went into a three-minute dry spell to take a 104-99 lead with 3:02 left.

“What’s good there is we see them leading by 18 points and we came back so it’s a character building and test (for us),” said Ramos.

It was a great escape for the Elite especially against a team that has yet to taste victory in five outings.

“Pero what’s good there is nilagay kami sa sitwasyon ng building ng character and test of character, kailangan namin yun eh,” added Ramos.

The mentor hopes that what they learned in the game will prepare them for a bigger battle ahead.

“Going to Ginebra we will be preparing one day but of course the momentum is with us going there pero ang Ginebra galing din sa panalo sa game nila,” he said. “On Friday we’ll try our best.”

“Maybe we can salvage a win, tingnan natin. We’ll see what my players can bring against Ginebra,” said Ramos.
