Kasi, second conference, puro talo eh. Iyakan, diba? Ang hirap bumangon eh. Pero ngayon, sana masanay nang masanay manalo. Maging habit ba -- Bong Ramos
Blackwater continues with its giant slaying ways and is now treading on unfamiliar territory.
Spotless in four games for the franchise’s best start, the Elite suddenly find themselves on top of the heap in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.
They are now enjoying a situation that is in stark contrast to their plight a conference ago.
“Nag-eenjoy sila manalo, masarap pala eh,” said Blackwater head coach Bong Ramos on Friday after Blackwater collected its fourth straight win at the expense of defending champion Barangay Ginebra.
The Elite outlasted the Gin Kings, 124-118, in overtime to take the solo lead and hand Ginebra its first loss in four games.
The victory is an added morale boost for a team, which in the Commissioner’s Cup settled for only a single win in 11 games.
“Kasi, second conference, puro talo eh. Iyakan, diba? Ang hirap bumangon eh. Pero ngayon, sana masanay nang masanay manalo. Maging habit ba,” added Ramos.
Blackwater now has listed wins over Talk ‘N Text, San Miguel Beer, NorthPort and Ginebra, validating that the Elite are now the real deal.
Something that Ramos also believes.
“Sa puso ko, yes. Sa puso ng mga players, I think yes,” he said.
“But again, four wins pa lang yan, you have to play seven more games,” Ramos added. “Kailangan lang namin dito one game at a time.”
