Ravena is expected to coach his first game Saturday as the KaTropa takes on Rain or Shine in Iloilo.
Change has come for TNT KaTropa.
Nash Racela is no longer in charge for the flagship MVP franchise as Bong Ravena has been promoted to head coach.
The development was first reported by PBA Press Corps President Gerry Ramos of Spin and Ravena is expected to coach his first game Saturday as the KaTropa takes on Rain or Shine in Iloilo.
After a 1-4 start to the Governors' Cup, including back-to-back lopsided defeats, Racela has been on indefinite leave.
Eric Gonzales coached TNT on an interim basis during the team's overtime victory over Kia.
On top of Ravena's promotion, the KaTropa also tapped the services of coach Mark Dickel of New Zealand's Canterbury Rams according to report by Marc Hinton from Stuff.co.nz.
ABS-CBN Sports tried to contact TNT team manager Virgil Villavicencio for official confirmation on Ravena's promotion but he's yet to answer as of press time.
Racela was also promoted from being an assistant after the 2016 season, taking over from Jong Uichico. In less than two seasons for the KaTropa, coach Nash had three semfinals stints and one Finals.
However, this season has been rough for TNT. The KaTropa have yet to make it back to the semis, losing to San Miguel in the quarterfinals of both the Philippine Cup and the Commissioner's Cup.
