The San Miguel Beermen showed off their shooting prowess as they drilled 23 three-pointers to down the Columbian Dyip, 143-119, in the continuation of the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum Friday evening.

They tie a PBA record for most three-pointers made in a game, achieved twice by the TNT KaTropa franchise, which they last did on Jan. 14, 2009, coincidentally against the Beermen, per PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III.

Down by two in a back-and-forth first half, 64-66, San Miguel exploded in the third quarter, finishing the period on a very high note, as they closed the final 7:28 with a 34-11 blitz and never looked back to improve to a 2-1 record.

Columbian meanwhile drops to 0-6.

Arwind Santos started off the gates very quickly, scoring 19 points in the opening period on 7/11 shooting, including a scorching 5/8 clip from downtown.

The former league MVP finished this outing with 29 markers, and seven threes, coupled with five rebounds and four blocks.

San Miguel's Gilas Pilipinas trio of Marcio Lassiter, Christian Standhardinger, and Alex Cabagnot meanwhile combined for a 61-point effort, including six three-pointers from Marcio and three from Alex.

"That's one thing na sinasabi ko sa kanila. We stressed yung offense. the problem is our defense. In the first half we gave up 64 points and that's not a sign of good D. Fortunately our offense is superb. Happy because we won the game but sad we're not playing good defense," San Miguel coach Leo Austria said after the game.

Jackson Corpuz meanwhile paced Columbian's offense with 28 points, and was followed by import Akeem Wright's 22. Jerramy King and Rashawn McCarthy added 22 points and 18, respectively.

AZ Reid meanwhile flirted with a quadruple-double, posting 16 points, 17 rebounds, 11 assists, and six steals.
