Arwind Santos is not blaming circumstance or fate, just them having a lack of preparation.
Before San Miguel can call themselves title contenders again, they must first be fully prepared. However in their 110-102 loss against two-time defending champions Ginebra, they did not look like a dominant team, and veteran Arwind Santos agrees.
In addition to the loss, injury woes continue to plague not only San Miguel but their opponents as well. June Mar Fajardo is still out due to a foot injury. Marcio Lassiter also missed the game due to injury. On the other side, twin towers Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter are both sidelined, so are Jervy Cruz and Sol Mercado.
Art dela Cruz meanwhile is expected to return next month, says coach Tim Cone.
Although hobbled, Santos is not blaming circumstance or fate, just them having a lack of preparation.
"Talagang kulang pa yung preparations namin. Siguro, sabihin nalang natin na kulang pa talaga yung preparation na ginawa naman this conference. Halos balanced lang pero hindi na namin tiningnan dito kung sino yung injury," the former PBA MVP who scored 22 and grabbed 8 rebounds said.
Santos also added that even though they stumbled to a 2-2 start, there is still a lot of catching up to do in order to catch up in the league standings, where they currently sit sixth.
"Meron pa kaming natitirang mga ilang games na sana maipanalo namin to. Syempre, lahat naman naghihintay kay June Mar kasi malaking bagay talaga sya sa loob."
