Twenty-four points is Larry Fonacier's highest output in five years and his highest output in an NLEX uniform.
Veteran sniper Larry Fonacier just rediscovered his touch.
Fonacier fired six three-pointers for 24 points, 22 in the second half, Wednesday at the Big Dome, leading NLEX to a booming win over the previously-undefeated Blackwater in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.
Twenty-four points is Fonacier's highest output in five years and his highest output in an NLEX uniform.
Still, Fonacier says that his brilliant shooting was just part of Coach Yeng Guiao's system within the Road Warriors. A system that bodes well for a player like him.
"Just understanding the system and flowing with it. Like coach said, there will be open shots for shooters so it's up to us to take advantage," he said.
"The system of Coach Yeng is really friendly for shooters. Nagkataon lang na maraming opening today," Fonacier added.
Fonacier's offensive explosion coincided with Guiao's return from national team duty. The team certainly didn't disappoint with their head coach back in the lineup.
"I guess na-miss namin si Coach Yeng," Fonacier said.
"May mga baon siya from the national team so yun, it worked for one game. We gotta be ahead of our opponents obviously," he added.
