PBA: Lee, Hotshots spoil Murphy's fiery debut with SMB

Paul Lee scored the go-ahead jumper for the Hotshots as Magnolia keeps San Miguel struggling in the Governors' Cup.
What a win for Magnolia.
The Hotshots showed composure in the end against San Miguel, pulling off a pulsating 109-108 win over the Beermen Sunday in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup at the Big Dome.
Down four, 104-108, in the final minute and having onlt 3.5 seconds on the shot clock, Romeo Travis found Justin Melton wide open for a booming three, cutting Magnolia's deficit to one.
The Hotshots then took the lead for good after Paul Lee drilled a baseline jumper for a 109-108 advantage with 34 seconds to go.
Magnolia made several stops in the final Beermen possession, forcing misses from Kelly Nabong, Christian Standhardinger, and Alex Cabagnot to hold on for the win.
"Very nice win," head coach Chito Victolero said.
"Credit to the players, dun sa kanilang puso ika nga ng Gilas," he added as his team improved to 4-1.
Paul Lee led Magnolia with 28 points, nine in the fourth.
Four other Hotshots finished in double figures with import Romeo Travis adding 18 points and Ian Sangalang chipping in 16.
For the Beermen, new import Kevin Murphy impressed in his debut, firing 37 points to go along with 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Christian Standhardinger added 27 points and 16 boards for the now 2-3 SMB.
