PBA: Zamar proving he belongs with Blackwater
Signed midway through the PBA season, Zamar revealed that his current Blackwater contract will be up by the end of November.

After an impressive stint for Thailand's Mono Vampire in the ABL, Paul Zamar finally managed to break through the PBA, for real this time.

Picked up by Blackwater in the 2018 Commissioner's Cup, Zamar has earned himself legit rotation minutes for the Elite.

But as he gets more burn in the PBA, Zamar's production is steadily increasing.

There's was that sensational performance against Ginebra a couple of weeks back and on Friday, Zamar was at it again, coming up clutch on both ends as Blackwater beat Meralco in a thriller, 94-91.

Zamar first got an emphatic chasedown block on Anjo Caram to preserve a one-point lead for the Elite.

And with nine seconds to go, Zamar drilled a cold-blooded triple that ended up being the marginal basket in favor of Blackwater.

"Kasi ini-stress out ni Henry [Walker] for the last two minutes, even nung mid-fourth, wala na kayo ibang gagawin pag natanggap na yung bola, tira na. Wag na mag-hesitate, kasi pag nag-hesitate ka, dun ka mapo-prone sa turnovers. Nakinig lang ako sa mga sinabi ng coaches at teammates ko," Zamar said of his booming three.

"All effort na lang, kesa naman ibigay mo yung wide-open layup, ma-block or ma-foul mo, at least nandun ka na ma-prevent yung layup. Luckily inabot," he added of this clutch block.

Signed midway through the PBA season, Zamar revealed that his current Blackwater contract will be up by the end of November.

However, he stressed out that his rising performance is not a conscious effort for him to earn a new deal. He wants to stay of course, but his effort on the court is his way to help Blackwater win games.

"Actually yung contract ko is just until the end of November. I'm praying na si God na bahala sakin. Basta I will give my best every minute na ipasok ako. Ipasok man ako ni coach Bong or hindi, I'll be there to support the team. Nabigyan ako ng chance ni coach Bong to close the game, thankful ako na nakapag-deliver ako," Zamar said, who finished with 13 points vs. the Bolts, 10 in the fourth quarter.

"Matagal pa naman yun November and we still have five more games to go. Hindi ko muna iniisip yung end nung contract ko, I'm focusing on helping my team win more games, hopefully makapasok kami sa quarterfinals. Yun ang ang focus ko, to provide what my team needs," he added.
