Move to off guard has unlocked new level to Banchero's game
With his performance improving every game, Banchero is confident to say that he's having the best stretch of his PBA career thus far.

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal --- Chris Banchero is having quite a PBA Governors' Cup for Alaska.

Banchero is one of only two locals averaging a double-double this conference, averaging 16.8 points, 10.2 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game.

On Saturday, Banchero had another 15 points and 12 dimes and Alaska beat San Miguel, 129-119.

The Aces are now tied for second place for the conference with a 5-1 mark.

"Guys are making shots so it’s easy for me. My job is to find open guys and kind of be a floor general," Banchero said.

"Huge win for us. San Miguel is a championship team so anytime we can get a win against them it’s big for us. We’re playing good basketball right now, everybody’s doing their jobs," he added.

While he still runs the Alaska offense, Banchero actually moved to shooting guard for the Governors' Cup.

The move has paid off and he's been able to run his team's system better despite being designated as an off guard.

"I’m very comfortable. I feel good. I can get out. Transition is really my strength so I can get out and put pressure on the defense and then, find the open shooters so it’s a really good move," he said.

"I’ve played well since he’s moved me to the two," Banchero added.

With his performance improving every game, Banchero is confident to say that he's having the best stretch of his PBA career thus far.

Which only benefits Alaska's title hopes of course.

"This is the best I’ve felt during my career. I’m very comfortable now. I’ve been with Alaska for quite some time now so it’s my job to produce," he said.

"They put a lot into me and I’m glad that I’m playing well. All the guys are playing well too and they deserve as much credit as I do," Banchero added.
