PBA: Sigh of relief for Woods after Northport win
The Batang Pier beat Columbian Saturday, snapping a six-game losing skid for a 1-6 mark. It was a season-saving win for Northport.

After finally getting his breakthrough PBA win, Northport import Rashad Woods can't help but feel relieved.

The Batang Pier beat Columbian Saturday, snapping a six-game losing skid for a 1-6 mark. It was a season-saving win for Northport.

And despite Woods having a rare bad game, he couldn't care less. He finally got his first win in the PBA.

"First time in my career to lose six games in a row. It's tough. Mentally it's tough. Draining. You gotta keep coming to practice and practice hard. You gotta just stay with each other," Woods said.

"It feels good to get our first win. Even though I played bad I don't care. I'm happy we won the game man. I'm really excited for our team, our staff, everybody's excited abour this win," he added.

Woods only scored 13 points vs. Columbian. Fortunately, three of his locals scored at least 25.

While there's excitement over at Northport, the team is still 1-6 and on the brink of elimination. However, there's renewed confidence in the Batang Pier now after getting that first win on the board.

"It's a little relief but we're still 1 and 6," Woods said.

"So we just gotta keep working and listen to the coach and just build it from there," he added.
