Still without four-time MVP June Mar Fajardo, San Miguel proves to be too much for Phoenix.
The Beermen are finally back on the winning track in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup after taking care of the Fuel Masters, 117-100, Friday at the MOA Arena.
San Miguel avoided a rare four-game slid and improved to 3-4 in the standings, starting their climb back to playoff contention.
Struggling all conference long, the Beermen finally got things going against Phoenix, using a strong fourth-quarter run to pull away for good.
"We're so thankful, this is very crucial for us and I thin the players played well, especially on defense," head coach Leo Austria said.
"We put a premium on defense and I hope na realized namin na its the missing piece, yung defense namin," he added.
It was a back-and-forth game until the fourth period when the Beermen dropped a quick 10-2 run to create separation from Phoenix.
San Miguel ended up leading by 20 points in, 108-88, as they pounded the Fuel Masters to submission.
