PBA: Hotshots win five straight to keep solo first place
Winning a fifth straight game, Magnolia now has a 7-1 record and the Hotshots stand alone as the no. 1 team in the standings.

Magnolia keeps solo first.

The Hotshots survived Alaska in a low-scoring affair Sunday in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup, taking an 83-73 decision at the Big Dome.

Winning a fifth straight game, Magnolia now has a 7-1 record and the Hotshots stand alone as the no. 1 team in the standings.

It was evident from the start that this game was going to be a defensive slugfest and Magnolia found enough offense to get a leg up on the Aces.

The Hotshots led by as many as 20 points, 51-31, early in the second half behind a balanced scoring attack.

However, with Mike Harris at the lead, Alaska would stage a comeback, cutting to deficit down to two points late only to see Magnolia reel off a strong game-ending run.

Import Romeo Travis led the Hotshots with 19 points and 17 rebounds while Jio Jalalon had 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Paul Lee added another 14.

Harris was the main guy for the Aces, finishing with 24 points and 25 rebounds. Alaska dropped to 5-2 with the loss, good for fourth place.
